Wharf T&T Deploys Pioneered SUPERTONE BROADBAND Services
Powered by the Cisco Systems' Internet Protocol Telephony System

Wharf T&T today proudly presents its breakthrough SUPERTONE BROADBAND services for multi-national and Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Unlike the plain old telephone service, this new service delivers a range of practical features that are easy to use and manage.

Wharf T&T's SUPERTONE BROADBAND services is supported by Cisco Systems' Internet Protocol (IP) Telephony System, commonly known as IP Telephony, which allows data, voice, and video traffic to converge onto a single network infrastructure. This results in cost saving for companies on wiring, network administration and service contracts.

Highly reliable, the new service offers utmost reliability and a 2Mbps symmetric broadband connection that is designed to ensure resilient and secure connection. By paying an affordable monthly fee for internet access, customers can also enjoy unlimited local phone service, email, voice-mail, and other common features such as Call Forwarding, Call Transfer and Call Waiting.

Mr. Vincent Ma, Executive Director, Commercial of Wharf T&T, said, "SUPERTONE BROADBAND services is a cost-effective service that meets our customers' needs. Customers do not require any extra capital investment as Wharf T&T will provide the equipment with all the necessary features and offer round-the-clock professional service support. Empowered by Cisco's IP Telephony system, I am sure that our SUPERTONE BROADBAND services will be able to meet the various needs of most companies in Hong Kong."

"We are very pleased to be working with Wharf T&T to launch this innovative service," said Errol Chan, General Manager, Cisco Systems (HK) Limited. "Customers will be able to enjoy a high quality and feature-rich phone system at a competitive price supported by Cisco's latest proven technology."

Customers will be able to save administrative costs with no duplication of in-office wiring while enjoying the ease of management with a single service provider, single platform and single bill. Supported by Cisco CallManager IP PBX and Cisco IP SoftPhone intelligent features, SUPERTONE BROADBAND services offers an array of benefits and flexibility to customers. Combining the functions of a traditional telephone with an Ethernet connection, the IP SoftPhone enables users to plug-n-play anywhere in a corporate network with personal profiles stored in a centralized location. It also supports directories integration that allows users to instantly place or transfer calls by searching an individual's name or email address.

The Cisco IP SoftPhone is a Windows-based application for PC or laptop users offering the same functionality as an IP Phone. It allows users of SUPERTONE BROADBAND services a high degree of mobility and convenience. A user can carry his extension using the IP Softphone, and receive and place calls anywhere as long as he is connected to the corporate network. Even dial-up connections can be used to access voicemail and place calls.

Cisco continues its leadership in the IP telephony market, according to Synergy Research Group and Dell'Oro Research. Cisco has more than 10,000 IP communications customers worldwide and has shipped in excess of two million IP phones to customers -- more than all other vendors' IP phone sales combined. Today Cisco IP phones are displacing approximately 5,000 circuit-based, traditional phones each business day -- compared with 2,000 per business day a year ago.

By maximizing the potential of broadband service, SUPERTONE BROADBAND services delivers high quality and stable connectivity over a converged network of data and voice which undoubtedly brings about tremendous benefits to cater for different demands of businesses in Hong Kong, from multi-national corporations to SMEs.
